Charter Schools, called Community Schools in Ohio, were started because of the ever increasing drop-out rate and decline in academic achievement in the inner-city public schools. The charter school initiative is to create new schools with innovative approaches to education to bring about increased student academic achievement, better attendance rate, more student and parent satisfaction with schools, decreased suspensions and expulsions while saving tax dollars. Most Charter Schools have five years to meet goals presented to the Ohio Department of Education. Successful Charter Schools may be used as models for the nation. Our country lags behind others in the field of education. Each Charter School is an individual school district and should be judged only on its own merits and accomplishments. In light of all the controversy about Unified Public Schools and individual districts, Charter Schools, T.C.P. World Academy’s staff has stayed the course of accomplishing the goals of the Charter School initiative. This annual report is to share our progress with you.
